Natural Pools in Alicante
The province of Alicante is located in the southeast of Spain, bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It attracts millions of visitors every year. Most of them go to the same places to take a dip on the coast, like Benidorm. However, many of the best places to enjoy the water amidst nature are inland.
It has quite a mountainous relief. The northern two thirds is made up of mountain ranges and river valleys, while the southern third is plain. It has pleasant temperatures all year round, with mild winters and hot summers. This results in a beautiful semi-arid Mediterranean landscape dotted with pine, palm and fruit trees.
The rivers are usually short, due to the proximity of the mountains to the sea. They have a medium to low flow, often with large floods in times of torrential rains. The most important rivers are the Segura, the Vinalopó, the Serpis, the Girona and the Algar. It also has numerous reservoirs and lagoons. In these rivers, reservoirs and lagoons there are many spectacular spots and natural pools for admiring or wild swimming, but you have to know where they are.
Discover below the best natural pools and places to swim in Alicante. To find a specific type of spot (e.g. waterfall or river), use the filter below.
