Los Chorradores de Navarrés

Route through a set of waterfalls and beautiful swimming holes, close to the town of Navarrés, in the interior of Valencia (Spain).

Navarrés, located in the region of ‘La Canal de Navarrés’ in the province of Valencia, is 68 km from Valencia city. The route of ‘Los Chorradores de Navarrés’ starts 1.5 km from this town.

Along this route, you will find waterfalls and swimming holes. They are in a humid area with lush vegetation within the ravine called ‘Barranco del Barcal’. In 2014, this place was declared a ‘Municipal Natural Area‘, with an area of about 29 hectares. The route has wooden railings marking the route, a few wooden bridges, and stones to cross over the river.

From the car park, the path descends and at some point, you have to pass between walls that create a kind of tunnel. Many friendly little lizards sunbathe on these walls. (I stroked the head of a 3 cm lizard that loved it!).

After a few minutes, the vegetation starts to be more abundant and you´ll hear the first sounds of water. ‘La Fuente Clara’ (Clear Fountain) is a small rock cave covered by moss and ferns. A curtain of water of small jets fall at the entrance, creating a magical spectacle.

A few minutes from here, the trail starts to go along the riverside. You’ll see ‘El Chorrador’, the largest waterfall of ‘Los Chorradores de Navarrés’. This beautiful waterfall is about 20 m high. At its feet lies a fantastic blue swimming hole, that might seduce you to take a dip.

If you continue you will arrive at the ‘Azud de Badina Migas’, a small weir with a gate closing the channel. Eventually, you´ll arrive at ‘Los Chorradores de Navarrés’, a double waterfall. Water pours down into a beautiful natural pool with moss-covered rock. If you continue, after a wide curve, you´ll arrive at the ‘Font de la Figuera’ (Fountain of the Fig Tree) picnic area. It has wooden tables and benches under an impressive fig tree. To the right of this recreational area is the fountain, in a small stone and tile construction.
